Acromage Game
Description
Acromage was first introduced to the gaming community as a part of
Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor. In this
game, one of the side quests was to win thirteen games of Acromage in each tavern
of Erathia. The game became so popular that 3DO decided to
release it as a separate game (not really for the good).
In Might and Magic VIII the concept is not
different, the side quest is called " Acromage Champion".
Tonk Blueswan in Ravenshore (house 22
in the city) gives it. You need to win once in every 11 taverns
from Jadame. You can loose or win as much as you want but you
need at least one winning game in each tavern.
Rules
The game isn't that difficult and the base winning rules are easy. You have
tree ways:
-
Have the highest tour (the maximum high is given for each tavern).
-
Have the highest resource (the maximum is given for each tavern).
-
Destroy your opponent tour.
When you win a game you will get some gold as reward
and an entry in your award log. This is only true the first time you win, after that
you'll get nothing, except the pleasure to play.
TELP's web site offer a good strategy guide for this game as well as more information
about the rules. Check it out if you need more information.
Play the Game
This is the sum up of all the places where you must play the game in order
to win the quest. The first and second column informs you where to go. The
start group gives you the status of the game when you start it and the
victory column the two winning conditions ("destroy opponent" being implicit).
The last column is the reward in gold pieces
for the first win.
Region | Tavern | Start | Victory | Reward | Tour | Wall | Resources | R | B | G | Tour | Rsc | Dagger Wound Island | The Grog and Grub (house 3 in the village) | 15 | 5 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 30 | 100 | 600gp | Ravenshore | Kessel's Kantina (house 18 in the city) | 20 | 5 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 50 | 150 | 1'000gp | Ravenshore | The Dancing Ogre (house 43 in the city) | 20 | 50 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 100 | 300 | 1'700gp | Garrote Gorge | Dragon's Blood Inn (house 22 in the village) | 25 | 10 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 75 | 200 | 2'500gp | Alvar | Miho's Roadhouse (house 4 in the region) | 10 | 20 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 125 | 350 | 2'000gp | Alvar | Profit House (house 31 in the city) | 20 | 5 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 50 | 150 | 1'500gp | Ironsand Desert | Parched Throat (house 11 in the village) | 25 | 10 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 75 | 200 | 1'500gp | Ravage Roaming | Bull's Eye Inn (house 3 in the village) | 20 | 10 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 150 | 400 | 4'000gp | Shadowspire | Black Company (house 2 in the city) | 30 | 15 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 100 | 300 | 5'000gp | Murmurwoods | Traveler's Rest (house 11 in the village) | 30 | 15 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 100 | 300 | 3'500gp | Regna | Pirate's Rest (house 2 in the village) | 20 | 10 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 200 | 500 | 6'000gp |
Be attempt that Ravenshore and Alvar has 2
Taverns where you must play the game. The 4 Elemental Planes as well as the Plane between
Planes has no Tavern.

Braziers
Desciption
Very nice add-on to the game, the brazier games are easy ways to get
some cheap development point. In almost all each region of Jadame
you can find a Brazier. When click on the brazier, the selected
characters makes his chance. You can only win once per character,
if you loose you can play over until you win (see wining conditions
below).
Each brazier give you a chance to win if you met a condition of the
attribute describe by the brazier. The attribute tested by the brazier
is chosen randomly when the region is entered for the first time or reset.
There is then no way to know which attribute will be test at the start of
the game.
Types and Conditions of Victory
Type and names of each brazier you can find. The level indicates the minimum
points in the given attribute (chosen randomly at the first entry on the map).
For example, a Contest of Might requires 50
points minimum in Might of the selected (playing) character. If he/she
has them, he/she gets 5 development points.
Type | Attribute Level | Development Points | Blue / Game | 25 | +3 | Orange / Contest | 50 | +5 | Red / Test | 100 | +7 | White / Challenge | 200 | +10 |
You will find only one Blue / Game in the game.
This is to avoid a too easy way of getting development points.
Locations
This is the list of each brazier and location on the maps you can find in each
region of Jadame.
Regions | Type | Dagger Wound Island (cyan d on the map) | Blue / Game | Ravenshore (cyan b in the city) | White / Challenge | Ravenshore (cyan a on the map) | Orange / Contest | Shadowspire (cyan c on the map) | White / Challenge | Alvar (cyan c on the map) | Red / Test | Ironsand Desert (cyan d on the map) | Red / Test | Ravage Roaming (cyan d on the map) | Red / Test | Murmurwoods (cyan c on the map) | Orange / Contest | Regna (cyan b on the map) | White / Challenge |
Be attempt that if two regions has the same type of brazier with the same
attribute to test you can only get the reward from on of these two. If you
are focusing on the braziers to get skill points you should save before
entering a new region then check the brazier first. If this type with the
given attribute already is used, reload the game.
It is a good choice to cast Day of the Gods before playing with braziers.
This avoids you to run desperately for black potions and barrels all around.
You can also put a bunch or rings or other items just for this and insure you have
the good level.

Easter-Eggs
Description
An Easter-Egg means for most: a colored hard-boiled egg or egg-shaped candy
used to celebrate Easter. But it has also another signification: a message, graphic,
sound effect, or other behavior emitted by a program in response to some undocumented
set of commands or keystrokes, intended as a joke or to display program credits.
Might and Magic games has a long reputation of
Easter-Eggs and real world references. Might and Magic
VIII does not fail to this tradition. Plenty of then are found all around
Jadame, except the 4 Elemental Planes and the Plane between Planes.
An Easter-Egg is basically a hidden chest or place where you can find
items from a simple ring or regent to a powerful Relic. Some Easter-Eggs
are trigged by a skill of the selected character and others without any condition.
Identification
All Easter-Eggs that are found in trees, flowers, rocks or other natural
element can be easily identified when you place your mouse cursor on it. The first
letter of the name of the object is written with an upper case character. For
example: a tree with a chest will be written: " Tree".
Some other Easter-eggs are more difficult to find since
they are located in elements without any clue. Most of the
time they are part of a building wall.
Locations
The compete list of all known Easter-Eggs all around Jadame until now on.
The container type is the " object" this is used to hide the Easter-Egg. A map
coordinate as well as a location on the map (see links) gives the exact location. Make sure
you satisfy the remarks before you trig the Easter-Egg, if not the Easter-Egg will
be lost until next respawn.

City map cyan f,
Coord: X : 5'350, Y : -12'320
| Gives a regent. | Need to have 3 or more in Repair Item skill. |
An interesting point is that the Repair Item seems to be the
trigger for several Easter-Eggs, this is probably an implementation error
since Perception seems to be more logical.
Acknowledgement
We need to specially thanks Strider and Jehrn, two valuable community members,
as well as some of TELP's members that have run all around Jadame
to discover all the hidden elements of the game.

Game Cheats
Description
Many people that come on the 3DO Forums are asking for cheats.
In their mind they are looking for a code to enter in a prompt
section in order to get better characters, items or others.
Cheats are most of the time present in console games and
have made their way in many PC games.
Heroes of Might and Magic has a
series of cheats like that but the standard Might
and Magic RPGs game NO. Might
and Magic games are not console games long list of
cheats. For them, go back to your Nintendo.
Bypass
If you really want to cheat in the game there are ways:
-
The easiest way but the most illegal is to make use of a trainer or editor.
You can edit your character profile as wished. This will probably spoil
totally your game, but it's your choice.
-
The most common way is to make use of the bugs of the game. This
can have many forms and some of them are very powerful. I will
not describe them here (see the link section below).
This is considered has cheating for some, but the boundary is
hard to define.
-
The final and the most elegant way, that is in no way cheating, is to make
use of the Easter-Eggs of the game. Many powerful hidden objects or other
nice things are spread around the maps of the game. The most powerful in
my opinion is the transmuter tree in Murmurwoods (see map cyan
e). But you have many other very good
places.
Do what you want but cheating never brings you the fame you should
have!

Game Tips
Some tips and hints gathered around during playing and on lurking on different message
boards. These are not absolute and are linked to your team.
Gather Gold
-
Get you Merchant skill to Grand Master if you can (Dark Elf only). This
will have marvelous effects. You can also hire Cauri for this task.
-
Engage or build up your own Dark Elf. With the special spell Glamour
you can get an extra for each trade action you do. Love filters are so
powerful... ;)
-
Do some trade with the different traders around Jadame! You can
directly start in Dagger Wound Island with Tobersk Brandy that
you find in the caravan. Caravan you are supposed to protect from thieves
by the way :). See the links below from trading.
-
If you have a Lich that with Grand Master Water Magic skill go to a shop
and by some equipment. Then use your Lich to enchant these objects before
selling them again with a substantial benefice. Don't by the cheapest because
it will not work. It also works on items you find on the ground or on monsters
that are not already magical.
-
If you have a Lich that with Grand Master Fire Magic skill go to a shop
and by some equipment. Then use your Lich cast Fire Aura (permanent at GM level)
on these objects before selling them again with a substantial benefice. You
can do it with any object, even the cheapest. It also works on items you find on
the ground or on monsters that are not already magical.
-
Do some Bounty hunting. Each month you can get a Bounty in a Town hall.
Prefer to take monsters with a lot of gold as reward. The biggest bounty
you can get is for 12'500gp.
-
Go each Sunday to the Arena of Jadame. The more the level is hard the
more you get gold. The best you can make is
100'000gp if you are really strong.
-
Loot monsters and chests in dungeons or regions. The bigger the monster is
the better the reward is. Same goes for the chests, the better the dungeon
is the better the reward will be.
-
Hire all the NPC you can and strip them. You can sell all the unused equipment
for a substantial bonus in gold. The higher the
NPC is in level the better his equipment will be.
-
Play the Acromage game in each tavern you see. The first time you win you get
some gold. This is very useful at the start of
the game to get some extra money.
-
Have a Lich with GM Alchemy and produce many black potions. Sell them with a
Dark Elf GM Merchant to get a good price.
-
With a character that has 7 or more in Repair skill, you can get an infinite
amount of white potions from the potion tree in Alvar (see map cyan
f). They are worth 750gp
each, so you can make large amounts of cash in virtually no time this way.
-
Drink from the money well in Dagger Wound Island (map green
IV), if you have less then 100gp
(on you + on the bank account) you get 1000gp.
Combat
-
When you fight enter Turn Based Mode (TBM), this is a very good mode to
fight and gives you a huge advantage. Also in TBM you have much more
chance to hit the monster since he cannot dodge it. Only is AC and
resistance will reduce or annihilate the strike. The counter part is
that your opponent will charge you direct in frontal attack.
-
In TBM you cannot move at the same time you attack. But if you fly
you are free to do vertical movements. This comes to hand to dodge
range attack from monsters.
-
In dungeons make use of the door bug to fight monsters without
taking damage!
-
When you fight a monster and have a 90 degrees corner right by the
hand use it to hide yourself from the monster's attack. You can attack
him without being hurt.
You and the monster
Place yourself like the picture. The blue cross is you and the red star,
the monster.
-
When you enter the first time a dungeon or a region all the monsters are
randomly set. The monster level is set according to the level and hit points
of the active character when you enter. This means that the monsters can be
weak. Try to enter several times until you get the flavor you like.
-
Don't be afraid to use the environment as a defense (river, tree, rock,
hill, etc.). This will protect you very well against range attack or melee
weapons. For example you can stay at one side of the rivers and shoot down
any melee monster on the other side.
-
If you can Berserk (Mind Magic) a monster in a group you will have a very
good fight between the monsters giving you time to shoot them down (don't
shoot the berserked one).
-
The AI if the monsters isn't that smart, often a monster will be sucked
in furniture or other asperity of the dungeon (the AI can't make a walk
around path). Use it to lock him and shoot him down.
-
If you paralyze a monster you can kill him without being hurt. If a monster
has pain reflection spell paralyze him. The paralyze spell will annihilate
the pain reflection spell.
-
You can often shoot a monster from very far without activating him (he will
retaliate). A good way to take out some nasty monsters.
-
Save a lot before and during your fights. Some times you must need a different
tactic to kill a monster or a pack of monsters.
-
In some dungeons you can find slops. On most of the monsters will be sucked
in TBM. If the slop is too long the monster cannot climb it during his movement
time and will slide down to the bottom. This gives you much time to kill
him.
-
The combo bow-fly-benediction is excellent to take out hordes of monsters
in open areas. Also you an easily dodge the range weapons.
-
If you have a dragon in your team, don't attack a rat with him in TBM, he
cannot make a hit and the rat will kill the dragon. It's a bug.
-
If you do a range attack in TBM you can put some distance between you and
the monsters by stepping backward when your movement turn it. You should not
walk backward since you will be approximately 50% slower. Just turn yourself
180 degrees and walk forward 5 steps, no monster will attack you during this
phase.
General
-
Get one of your characters as quick as possible master in Water Magic. Then
you will be able to travel with Town Portal. This will reduce your travel
time by a HUGE factor.
-
Get one of your characters as quick as possible expert in Air Magic. Then
you will be able to see the treasures on the mini map. This can also help to
find hidden places if you don't have Perception skill developed.
-
Gather ore on the ground and in chests. You can transform it for goods.
Really only useful at the beginning. See links below.
-
Apply harden item potions on your equipment to avoid systematic reparation.
If you don't have the repair skill high enough this will avoid a lot of
travel to a chop. This will not work on Artifact, Relics and Special
objects. And don't use them on items you don't plan on keeping. Expert
alchemy is needed to make one and it's the yellow/green one.
-
Don't cumulate items with the same boost bonus for a skill on the same
character, it will not work. Only the best bonus will be taken in account.
Some skill bonuses are cumulative like Armsmaster. Bonuses from an Artifact
and a Relic are cumulative with the one from normal magical item.
-
Eat fruits! You can find in the summer trees with fruits, in fact apples
tree only. Each time your character eat one apple you get an extra food
portion. Hmmm... seems more preprocessed fruits after that ;).
-
Make some donation in a local temple to get a nice spell cast one you.
Take cares that often haste spell is cast, this will weakened your team
when it runs out.
-
Play with the different Braziers in the game. This will give you some
extra development points to spend on your character. When a region is
respawned you can play again! If a character won a particular brazier game,
they cannot win it again. (See the Brazier section for details).
-
Before entering a new dungeon or region enter in Turn Based Mode, this
will give you time once inside to see what is around and enables you to
run for your life if you miss judged the place strength. Later on
yo can also do it with invisibility (Master Air spell).
-
Save often your game. Several bugs in the game can have nasty effects
that will result in your death. See link below.
-
If it happens that the local NPC turns hostile to you it's possible
you made a wrong movement, step or attacked. Save your game and reload.
The locals will become friendly again. If they turn hostile again after
a second it's that you did something forbidden.
-
Do not store unused items into the chests of the game. If the dungeon
or region resapwn you will lose it's content. Prefer the backpack of the
NPC in Adventure's Inn, it's safe and you have a huge space for
free.
-
Make use as much as possible of the different Easter-Eggs of the game.
They are numerous. See link below.
-
If you drop an item on the ground and leave the region or dungeon this
one will disappear. So never drop them on the ground if you want to use
them later. If you did lose a quest item you can ask the Seer in
Ravenshore to give you a new one.
-
If you are too lazy to kill all the monsters one by one in open areas, take a Lich a
cast Armageddon several times to kill them all in once.
-
Better to develop natural resistance to magics rather than using magic spells
to increase your resistance. Combine both will be the most efficient.

Travel
Description
During the game you need to travel from region to region very often in
order to solve the game plot. Travel can be done with external aide or
by the team members themselves. You have different ways to travel in
Jadame. The most common is by foot, but you can use coach, boats,
submarines or even magical ways.
The most convenient way to travel is by using magic, but this is only
available later in the game. Foot is the most common but very time consuming.
So if you chose for an external support you need to know when, where and how
you can use them.
Transport Companies
All around Jadame you find transport companies that will bring you
from place to place for a small fee. For each region you have each company
described as well as their location, fee and schedule. You also find the
timetables for foot travel.

Foot travel is fee free but you will make use of food rations.
So before you engage foot travel be sure you have enough food for
the number of day the travel will last. If your food supply is short
and you do the travel, your character will become weak or die.
If a map has no direct neighbor in one of the cardinal direction you will
be send to a neighborhood region with a travel time doubled from
the direct way. So it is preferable to cross the map and take a direct
path to avoid an extra long route that will of course reduce drastically
your food supply. Food can be bough in any Tavern of Jadame.
If you want to go to Regna by non-magical means it is preferable to use the
submarine in Dagger Wounds Island. The travel from Ravenshore to
Regna via Dagger Wound Island and the submarine is shorter then
taking the boat direct from Ravenshore to Regna. To leave Regna
use the same technique.
Magical Transport
It is possible to travel by magical ways. The Master and Grand
Masters Water Magic casters have access
to two excellent spells: Town Portal and Lloyd Beacons. The Town Portals
will bring you to certain regions of the game that has a central fountain.
Lloyd Beacons are more general ways of traveling without constraints.
Prior to be able to use a magic transport you need to access once at
least the region you want by a more physical way :). For Beacon
you need to place a beacon where you want. For the Town Portal spell you
need to activate the main fountain in the region (see below the regions
with one).
Travel Map
Here is a small graph that sums up all the travel routes (Air,
Ground, Sea, and Magic) between all the regions and planes. To know the
schedules of each coach, boat or other refers to the upper section.
The blue arrows are for the Seaways,
the brown arrows are for walking
connections and the green arrows are for
the coach travels. The names in Bold are for the regions that
can be reached with a Town Portal spell.
The main fountain in Ravage Roaming is located in the Balthazar
Lair.
>From time to time there is a bug that enables you to use a Town Portal
to a given region without put a step there. This happened in particular
with the Balthazar Lair fountain.
